MIT Scientists Test Bionic Prosthesis

August 4, 2025

MIT scientists are testing a bionic prosthesis that is implanted into the bone and connects with muscles like a natural limb. Unlike conventional prosthetics, which are inserted into a socket, this one literally fuses with tissues and becomes part of the body, resulting in movements that are nearly as smooth and precise as with a healthy leg. Currently, the technology is being tested on a couple of patients, and approval for mass operations is expected within five years.
