In the fire station of the city of Livermore (California, USA) hangs the legendary long-lasting bulb. The lamp has been burning since 1901, and anyone interested can admire it in real time by switching on the online broadcast. The bulb, which is now 124 years old, was manufactured according to the designs of engineer Adolphe Chaillet, who is considered the main competitor of Thomas Edison. It is believed that in 1901 an unknown electrician hung it in the fire station, and since then, the device has practically never stopped working. Scientists believe the secret of the bulb's longevity lies in the carbon filament: it likely wears out more slowly than modern tungsten filaments.
