Loneliness kills. Scientists conducted a large-scale study with 42,062 participants and found: 175 proteins are associated with complete social isolation, while 26 are linked to the feeling of loneliness. Half of these proteins are associated with increased risk of stroke, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases over the next 14 years. When you feel lonely, the level of 'bad' proteins in your blood increases; this directly affects your immune system, opening doors to viruses and slowly killing the body. Having even one friend or close person can remove all negative effects.
