Water on the Moon Comes from Solar Wind, Says NASA

May 1, 2025

Water on the Moon is produced by the solar wind, NASA has found. The theory was first proposed in the 1960s, and now it has been confirmed by 'bombarding' lunar soil samples with a particle accelerator that simulates solar wind with hydrogen ions, resulting in the actual formation of H₂O molecules. 'It's amazing that only sunlight and lunar soil are needed to form water – no other substances. This discovery captures the imagination,' NASA experts noted.
